Who Ya Think Ya Dealin Wit - Who Ya Think Ya Dealin Wit -

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars May 23, 2009

Meh

Finally, someone besides me who produces Hardcore. It's about damn time someone else made some. Anyway, I didn't find the melody to be catchy and the kick wasn't as bass driven as I would have liked. Try using Guitar Rig 3 on your kicks and Z3ta+ for your synth. 3xOsc is good too.

Good luck.

H3R3T3K responds:

Yea someone else producin hardcore ,, not many on here
more a site for kids i guess..
I had used vanguard for the kicks in this track ,, n cant remember wat synth..
3 x oscillator is not bad ,, used it for a while..

I now use utonic for kicks ,, n wouldnt use z3ta if u paid me ,, its jst a soundfont player,, the one built into FL is much better..
I now use silenth1 and korg legacy plugins for synth..
If u like using soundfont players n samplers check out Nexus.
Thought about using guitar rig ,, but its more for distortion.
I use a stack of filters, distortion plugs, compressors, etc ..
Acon effect chainer is a good plugin when experimenting with FX stacks .. =]
It allows u to use more than the standard 8 slots .. Seems ok on the CPU aswell.

These days I prefer to use generators in place of samples ,, gives much more freedom and more unique sound =]

AF - Rain of Fire (Demo) AF - Rain of Fire (Demo)

This needs a LOT of help.

Here's some tips:

1. Your hardest kick should always start around :50, with the synth introduced between 1:40-2:10

2. The kick sucks, dude. You have to buildup the kick as well as the synth. Start with a short kick, then a semi-short kick, then the full one around :50.

3. The synth needs work. It needs to be more centered, more detuned.

4. The beginning is too slow. Angerfist's "Loser" started out like this, but then it went bat-shit crazy 240 BPM. You need to compensate for the slow beginning or get rid of it.

5. Try alternating buildups and breakdowns every 50 seconds.

If I sound like a hardass, I'm sorry, but this song needs a lot more work.

No you don't sound like a hardass, this actually helps a LOT.
It's the first time I try the whole ''classic to hardcore'' buildup, so I'm not that experienced and all ;).

I'll try to work on the things you mentioned. Glad to see an actual helpful review for a change.

Better than the last version

I heard the previous version last night and decided to not review because I couldn't figure out what it was missing. Now I know that it was missing that special energy.

Very good job.

Thank you, and thanks for listening to the preview,
